Saudi Culture Minister Meets with French Minister, Holds Bilateral Discussions: SPA

RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan has held a meeting with the Minister of Culture of France, Rachida Dati, currently visiting the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to the SPA, at the outset of the meeting, the Saudi minister praised the robust cultural ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, emphasizing their recent development. He highlighted the wise leadership’s commitment to further strengthen bilateral cultural connections between the two friendly countries, the SPA added.

According to the SPA, the discussions centered on means to bolster cooperation and global cultural exchange between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and France across various cultural domains. Key areas of focus included theater, museums, and performing arts, films, culinary arts, libraries, visual arts, music, heritage preservation, architecture, fashion, and design. The SPA maintained that the meeting was attended by a number of top officials.

According to the SPA, the Minister of Culture of France Rachida Dati has also explored several prominent cultural venues and events in Riyadh during her official visit to the Kingdom.

The SPA reported that during the trip, she visited the “Diriyah Biennale for Contemporary Art” held in the Jax district of Diriyah, attracting a significant number of top artists from both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and around the world.

The SPA maintained that as a result, the Jax district underwent a complete redesign, transforming it into a vibrant creative hub featuring performance spaces, art galleries, artist studios, and supportive platforms.

The French Minister was briefed on its various innovative cultural initiatives at the Irqah Cultural Center. The center exemplifies Saudi cultural creativity by repurposing historical buildings into unique spaces that embrace art, artists, and elements of Saudi culture, the SPA reported.
