BISHKEK: Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has welcomed US Senator Steve Daines from the state of Montana on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, local media reported on Friday.
During their meeting, they discussed bilateral political and economic ties, focusing on promising projects in the energy, transportation, mining, and agriculture sectors. Additionally, they deliberated on enhancing cooperation in addressing international and regional issues, particularly in combating terrorism.
President Japarov emphasized that fostering political dialogue with the United States ranks high on Kyrgyzstan’s foreign policy agenda. He expressed confidence that Senator Daines’ visit would bolster relations between the two nations.
Regarding multilateral cooperation, President Japarov underscored Kyrgyzstan’s active engagement in the C5+1 dialogue and stressed the importance of expanding bilateral interparliamentary cooperation.
Senator Daines thanked the President for the meeting to discuss partnership matters between the two countries. He highlighted the strategic significance of Central Asia and emphasized the importance of regional stability and security.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to sustaining a multifaceted dialogue between Kyrgyzstan and the United States, indicating a mutual interest in deepening ties across various sectors.
