LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Sunday that he will immediately dissolve the provincial assembly if asked to do so by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

Reacting to the “ifs and buts” media analysis about his plans for the future of the Punjab government, the Chief Minister declared that “It was Imran Khan who bestowed him with the chief minister, so he is morally bound to obey his orders to withdraw”.

PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan while addressing the participants of the long march in Rehmanabad, Rawalpindi on Saturday announced that his party would quit all the assemblies, to force the government for fresh general elections.

It caused doubts in many suspicious minds in the analytical circles who raised questions whether Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi who is leading his own political party and is “well-known for his desire for power”, would follow Khan’s order to dissolve the Punjab Assembly. But Elahi came out crystal clear on the matter suggesting he was ready to go along PTI chairman.

He said in a statement that the massive numbers of long march participants once again proved Imran Khan’s popularity and that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance would “convert into chaos after the PTI and PML-Q’s resignations from the assemblies”.

Imran Khan’s Political Strategy Entered Final Stage

Elahi further said that the political strategy of Imran Khan has entered its final phase and the time has come to defeat Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its allies in the elections. “The memories of crushing defeat in elections will haunt them for generations”, he said.

He claimed that after the resignations of PTI and PML-Q members from the assemblies, the Shehbaz Sharif-led federal government will fall within hours and it will be impossible for it to run the system.
