ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Malaysian agreed to continue talks on mutual areas of partnership, particularly cyber security, regulatory frameworks, and 5G technology.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major Gen (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa and Tan Sri Mohamad Salim bin Fateh Din, Interim Chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), a press release issued here on Tuesday said.
Representatives of both countries discussed the regional digital landscape, including future projects and major initiatives.
Pakistan, Malaysia to Sign Cooperation Mechanism in ICT Sector
Former High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia, Lieutenant General (retd) Tahir Mehmood Qazi; Member (Finance) PTA, Muhammad Naveed; Commission Member MCMC, Datuk Lim Thean Shiang and other officers of PTA and MCMC also attended the meeting.
On the occasion, Chairman MCMC appreciated the phenomenal growth of ICT sector.

The Malaysian delegation briefed the meeting about their landmark projects, including (digital empowerment of rural communities) PEDi and their unique 5G model, i.e., Single Wholesale Network.
The meeting was the continuation of the previous talks between MCMC and PTA for collaboration in ICT-related fields. Both sides are expected to sign a non-binding cooperation mechanism in the near future.
