OIC to Play Greater Role in Addressing Global Food Insecurity

ISTANBUL: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Organisation of Islamic Cooperation , Hissein Brahim Taha, and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Sudan, Jibrine Ibrahim, discussed the current world food insecurity situation and agreed to enhance the role of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in supporting agriculture and food security projects in the OIC Member States.

The Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha received Sudan’s Minister of Finance, Jibrine Ibrahim, in Istanbul.

The Secretary-General highlighted the significance of the organization’s transportation projects. These projects included the Dakar – Port Sudan Railway Project.  Hissein Brahim Taha asked the government of Sudan to participate in the second stakeholders meeting of the project actively. The meeting will be held in the Headquarters in Jeddah in the month of February 2023.

OIC Projects and Programs for Economic Growth

During the meeting, both dignitaries discussed options for the speedy implementation of the projects and programs in the field of economy.

In the end, the Secretary-General congratulated Sudan for signing the framework agreement for financing the Port Sudan-Adre Railway Project.
