OIC Secretary-General Commends Gambia’s Preparations for Summit”

BANJUL: The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha called on the President of The Gambia Adama Barrow on the sidelines of the 15th Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul on Friday.

The meeting primarily aimed to enhance cooperation between The Gambia and the OIC, particularly focusing on the final preparations for the Summit of OIC leaders scheduled for May 4-5, 2024.

The summit themed “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development,” will address crucial regional and international issues pertinent to OIC Member States.

During the meeting, Secretary-General Taha commended The Gambia for its outstanding preparations and facilities for hosting the summit, expressing the OIC’s commitment to ensuring its success. He also praised President Barrow for The Gambia’s active engagement within the Organization.

As The Gambia assumes the chairmanship of the 15th Islamic Summit, President Barrow reiterated his dedication to advancing the OIC’s agenda and fostering unity among Member States.

He affirmed The Gambia’s commitment to the principles and objectives of the OIC, emphasizing collaboration among Member States to tackle shared challenges.
