BEIRUT: Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes on the southern Lebanon, far from the border, on Friday that left at least 3 people including a Hezbollah fighter.

According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, the airstrikes struck Najjariyeh and Addousiyeh, two neighboring villages just south of Sidon, approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the Israeli border. As result of airstrikes, three people including two Syrian children were killed.

The Israeli military confirmed targeting terrorist infrastructure in the Najjariyeh area, where Hezbollah fighters were active. The infrastructure, according to the Israeli military, included multiple compounds utilized by Hezbollah’s aerial defense system, posing a threat to Israeli aircraft.

Hezbollah announced the death of a fighter from Najjariyeh, while the National News Agency reported the tragic loss of two Syrian children in the strike, identified as Osama and Hani al-Khaled.

An AFP photographer witnessed the strikes hitting a pickup truck in Najjariyeh and an orchard.

Hezbollah claimed on Friday to have launched “attack drones” on Israeli military positions, following a previous day’s announcement that it had attacked an army position in Metula, a northern border town in Israel, injuring three soldiers.
