China, Pakistan Agree to Enhance Communication on Global Issues

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China have agreed to maintain the momentum of high-level interactions and engagements to further enhance communication on significant regional and global issues. The two sides made the agreement during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Minister of Central Committee of the International Department of Communist Party of China Liu Jianchao in Islamabad on Friday.

Ishaq Dar appreciated the positive contribution of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Pakistan’s socio-economic development, and prosperity and progress. He emphasized that as the flagship project of President China’s Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC project has transformed energy security.

Lauding the unanimous political consensus on CPEC project in the two nations, Ishaq Dar expressed Pakistan’s solid resolve to building upon the achievements of CPEC and for its high quality development in its Phase-II.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chinese Minister stated that as iron brother and time-tested friend, China accords a special place to Pakistan in its foreign policy and wishes to further strengthen the All-weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with Islamabad.

Expressing satisfaction at the steady pace of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Liu said that China would extend complete cooperation to Islamabad for the timely implementation of all current and new CPEC projects in Pakistan.

He also lauded the political parties of Pakistan for their steadfast support to CPEC project and China-Pakistan friendship, and reiterated Beijing’s keen desire to further enhance connections between the Communist Party of China and the political parties of Pakistan.
