WASHINGTON:  Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has been ramping up strong criticism of US President Joe Biden, has donated to a political group working to elect Donald Trump, according to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg cited sources as saying that Musk donated “a sizable amount” to a group called America PAC. It reported that the PAC — a group that can receive unlimited contributions for political activity, is next required to show its list of donors on July 15.  In March, Donald Trump met with Elon Musk and other wealthy donors.

In response to media reports of the meeting, Musk posted on social media: “Just to be super clear, I am not donating money to either candidate for US President.” Earlier, in May, Elong Must also dismissed media reports that there had been discussions over a potential advisory role for him in any Trump presidency.

Musk did not issue any reaction over the recent development. Donald Trump last month reiterated his promise to immediately abandon the Biden administration’s “mandate” to help the electric vehicle industry. But he said: “I’m a big fan of electric vehicles. I am a fan of Elon.”

Musk has not made any endorsement in November’s race and Donlad Trump said he did not know if he has Musk’s support.
