ISLAMABAD: Pakistani students excelled at the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) 2024, securing silver and bronze medals at the global competition held in Bath, United Kingdom from July 11 to 22.
Razi Hasan Mansoor, hailing from Karachi, achieved the silver medal, while Muhammad Ahmad Bhatti from Karachi School earned the bronze. Muhammad Mehd Arif from Lahore’s Sundus School received an “Honorable Mention” for Pakistan at the prestigious event.
This achievement follows closely on the heels of another success, where two Pakistani students won bronze medals at the International Biology Olympiad in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Pakistani team participated under the STEM Career Program, jointly run by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and PIEAS University. The mathematics team received training at COMSATS University Lahore Campus and was mentored by Prof. Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Dr. Hani Shakir.

PAEC oversees the National Science Talent Competition annually in subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology, selecting students nationwide for international participation under the STEM Career Program.
Internationally, the American, Chinese, and South Korean teams emerged as winners in IMO 2024, with India securing a commendable fourth place overall.
