BEIRUT, LEBANON: In response to escalating rhetoric from Israel, Hezbollah has issued a stern warning via the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), cautioning against any Israeli actions to widen the conflict.

According to a report by the Hebrew-language website Ynet, Hezbollah communicated to the UN peacekeeping force that any “foolish move” by Israel would be met with a “devastating response.”

The warning from Hezbollah came shortly after Israel increased its aggressive rhetoric following an incident in Majdal Shams. Ynet, citing Lebanese sources, reported that Hezbollah emphasized to UNIFIL the need for all parties to act responsibly to avoid provoking a broader conflict.

This heightened tension follows a missile strike of unknown origin that hit a playground in the occupied Syrian village of Majdal Shams, a Druze Syrian community. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 10 civilians, including children, and injured several others.

Hezbollah has firmly denied any involvement in the deadly strike, countering Israeli accusations. Local sources in the Golan Heights have suggested that the incident was caused by an Israeli anti-rocket interceptor malfunctioning and striking a soccer field, rather than an attack by Hezbollah.

Hezbollah’s communication with UNIFIL underscores the fragility of the situation in southern Lebanon and the potential for rapid escalation if either side engages in provocative actions.
