ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Istehsal today (Monday) to protest against India’s illegal move of August 5, 2019, when the Indian government unilaterally abrogated Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution, revoking the Special Status of Kashmir.

On August 5, 2019, the Hindutva-influenced BJP-led Indian regime had illegally and unilaterally abrogated Article 370 and 35-A of the Indian constitution, revoking the Special Status of Kashmir, five years ago.

A special walk from the Foreign Office to D-Chowk in Islamabad has been held to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar  lead the walk while federal ministers, lawmakers, political leaders of various parties, members of civil society, academia, students, and media persons will also join the event.

Besides, special walks and ceremonies will be organized across Pakistan, including all four provinces, Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

On this day, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and violations of the fundamental rights of Kashmiris will be highlighted.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to visit Muzaffarabad to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brothers. He will give a policy statement in connection with the Youm-e-Istehsal.

Meanwhile, in AJK, Pena flexes, banners and posters have been displayed in all the cities projecting Indian state terrorism and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

Documentaries about illegal steps taken by India on 5th Aug 2019 will be shown tomorrow on big screens in major cities of AJK.

Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) have reiterated the call for Kashmiris to observe Youm-e-Istehsal as Black Day, marking the 5th anniversary of India’s illegal abrogation of Article 370.

In a statement, an APHC spokesman said the observance of the day is aimed at conveying a message to the world that Kashmiris will never accept India’s illegal occupation and reject the illegal actions of August 5, 2019.

Posters have also emerged in Srinagar and other parts of the occupied territory, endorsing APHC’s call and appealing to people to observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal.

Addressing a gathering in Srinagar, senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed grave concern over the plight of Kashmiri political prisoners languishing across various jails of IIOJK and India.

He called on Indian authorities to at least treat these prisoners humanely, in line with international law and prison manuals.
