ISLAMABAD: Raja Khadim Hussain, a prominent leader of the Kashmiri Hurriyat Conference, on Sunday said that India’s efforts to suppress the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom will ultimately fail.

In a special message on Youm-e-Istehsal broadcast on PTV News, Hussain highlighted the enduring spirit of the Kashmiri people and their unwavering commitment to self-determination despite decades of oppression.

Hussain’s message underscored that the Kashmiri quest for freedom remains resolute and continues to inspire new leaders and activists in the region. He emphasized that India’s military actions and political strategies have not quelled the desire for liberation among Kashmiris.

Addressing the international community, Hussain made an urgent appeal for intervention to put pressure on India to release Kashmiri leaders and political activists imprisoned for years.

He specifically pointed to Yasin Malik, the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), whose trial has recently intensified with the Indian authorities seeking the death penalty. Hussain condemned this move as a severe miscarriage of justice and a blatant attempt to suppress Kashmiri voices.

Hussain criticized the international community’s lack of response to these issues, warning that continued silence could embolden the Indian government and perpetuate further violence and repression in Kashmir. He called on global actors to recognize the legitimacy of the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and to advocate for India’s compliance with international human rights laws.

The international community’s intervention, Hussain argued, is crucial to ensuring the immediate release of Malik and other political prisoners and to addressing the broader human rights violations occurring in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
