ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a new weather alert, forecasting rain, wind, and thunderstorms across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and isolated rainfall in Punjab from today through Saturday.

The forecast predicts heavy downpours that may increase flows in local nullahs and river tributaries, with moderate flows expected in the Kabul River and its tributaries. This could lead to flash floods in several districts, including Abbottabad, Parachinar, Charbagh, Charsadda, Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Hazara, Malakand, Mansehra, Mardan, Peshawar, and Swabi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Punjab, heavy rainfall is anticipated in the Potohar region and districts such as Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Layyah, Mianwali, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Lahore, Narowal, and Sialkot.

The NDMA has advised all relevant departments to implement necessary precautions to manage the potential impacts of flooding and extreme weather conditions.
