ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) predicted more rain and thundershower in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) from August 26th to 29th.
In a statement, the NDMA said that heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in hilly areas and flood may also take place in low-laying areas of Gujranwala Division, Sahiwal Division, Lahore Division, Attock, Murree, Galliyat, Twin Cities, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Bahawalnagar, Jhelum, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan (DG Khan), Layyah, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh; Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Multan, Khanewal, Chiniot, Khanpur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Lodhran, Khushab, Bhakkar, and Malakand Division, Peshawar Division, Hazara Division, Swabi, Mardan, Hangu, Kohat, Karak, Orakzai, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), Kurram, Tank, Waziristan Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience rainfall with heavy downpour.
Heavy rainfall may also trigger landslides in hilly areas of the country. The NDMA also urged all relevant authorities and the public to take essentials precautions to mitigate the potential impacts of flooding in low-lying regions and landslides in hilly areas. The NDMA also advised the public to remain vigilant and follow instructions from local authorities and asked the public to stay informed and download ‘Pak NDMA Disaster Alert’ mobile application for timely alerts and closely monitor weather reports
