ISLAMABAD: The navies of Pakistan and Oman have conducted a bilateral exercise during the Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP) at the Salalah port in Oman, the Pakistan military media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Thursday.

According to ISPR, the Pakistan Navy’s new warship, PNS Hunain, visited Oman as part of its regional maritime security patrol. During its maiden visit, the ship engaged in a naval exercise with a vessel from the Royal Navy of Oman.

Upon arrival at Salalah port, the Pakistan Navy ship was warmly welcomed by officers of the Royal Navy of Oman. The objective of the exercise was to enhance mutual cooperation and joint operational capabilities between the two navies.

During the visit, the commanding officer of the ship discussed matters of mutual interest with Omani military authorities.

Pakistan and Oman, as maritime neighbors, frequently engage in joint exercises, port calls, and coordinated patrols. The visit of PNS Hunain will further strengthen bilateral relations between the two navies.

PNS Hunain is the third of four PN Yarmook-class ships constructed at DAMEN Naval Shipyard in Romania.

The formal induction ceremony of PNS Hunain into the Pakistan Navy will be held on September 6 at the Naval Dockyard, with the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, as the chief guest.
