Rabiul Awwal Moon Not Sighted, Eid Milad un Nabi to Be Celebrated on Sept 17

ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that the Rabi ul Awwal moon was not sighted in Pakistan. As a result, The third month of the Islamic calendar 1446 Hijri will commence on Friday, September 6.

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad said this following a meeting of the moon-sighting committee at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Secretariat in Islamabad. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, SUPARCO, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

According to the announcement, Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH) will be observed across the country on September 17 (Tuesday). This day commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and is celebrated globally on the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Eid Milad un Nabi is marked by public processions, events, and seminars that highlight the Seerah (life and teachings) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
