ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Defence and Martyrs Day will be observed tomorrow, September 6, commemorating the nation’s resilience and bravery in the face of adversity.

The day is marked to honor the sacrifices of martyrs and Ghazis and to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of the motherland.

On September 6, 1965, Indian forces launched a surprise attack across the international border under the cover of darkness. In a remarkable display of unity and courage, the Pakistani military and nation thwarted the enemy’s plans and defended the country against the surprise attack.

The day will dawn with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital, Islamabad, and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals to honor the nation’s fallen heroes. These ceremonial salutes are symbolic gestures reflecting the country’s respect and gratitude towards those who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan.

Special prayers will be offered in mosques across the country, seeking blessings for the nation’s progress and prosperity. Prayers will be dedicated to the cause of Kashmir, reflecting the enduring hope for the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian administration.

Fateha and Quran Khawani will be held for the martyrs, serving as solemn reminders of the sacrifices made by those who fought to protect the nation.

Defence Day, celebrated annually, holds a special place in the hearts of Pakistanis. It represents the collective spirit of the nation and its unwavering resolve to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty. On this day, the country reflects on its historical struggle and the bravery displayed by its armed forces during one of the most challenging periods in its history.

Since the 1965 conflict, Defence Day has become a symbol of national pride and unity. The observance serves as a reminder of the courage and dedication of Pakistan’s military personnel and the sacrifices made to secure the nation’s freedom.
