PTI Announces Rallies to Demand Early Elections

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to hold rallies across the country to mount pressure on the federal government regarding their demand for transparent and early elections.

According to the PTI’s central secretariat, the party has decided to launch ‘election karao mulk bacho (Hold elections, save country) movement under which rallies would be taken out in Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore and other big cities of the country, today (Sunday). The decision has been taken in extension of the PTI’s campaign to mount further pressure on the government on the issue of snap polls.

In a statement, the party said rallies will be held in all the constituencies of Karachi, starting from Sunday. The areas included Model Town, Manghopir, Mominabad, Hyderi Market, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Safora Chowrangi, and Saddar. Party organizers and workers, former members of national and provincial assembly will attend the rallies. Candidates in the Karachi local government elections will also be a part of the movement.

PTI’s only demand

Earlier in the day, former federal minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the party would return to parliament if the incumbent government announces date for the next general elections. Speaking to a private Tv channel, the minister said that his party’s only demand is immediate and transparent elections. He added that the PTI would return to parliament if the government announces elections.
