LONDON, England: UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin’s warnings about NATO’s involvement in Ukraine, calling them “bluster.” Putin recently cautioned that allowing Ukraine to use long-range weapons like British Storm Shadow missiles or US-made ATACMS inside Russia would lead to war between NATO and Moscow.

Lammy dismissed Putin’s threats as typical of his strategy, saying, “He threatens about tanks, missiles, and nuclear weapons.” Tensions between Russia and the West escalated after US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met to discuss the issue but delayed a decision on relaxing rules for Kyiv’s use of these weapons.

Putin reiterated that such actions could provoke a broader conflict, but Lammy emphasized the need to stand firm against Russia’s expansionist ambitions. He warned that if Putin succeeds in Ukraine, he will likely continue his aggression elsewhere.

Further talks on this matter are expected at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.
