HULUNBUIR CITY: Pakistan’s hockey team clinched the bronze medal at the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy after a commanding 5-2 win over South Korea on Tuesday at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China.

Pakistan’s players dominated the game, with Hannan Shahid and Sufyan Khan each netting two goals, and Roman Khan adding one to seal the victory. This win marks Pakistan’s third-place finish in the tournament, a notable achievement for the team.

Earlier in the competition, Pakistan faced a heart-wrenching semi-final against host nation China. The game, which took place on September 16, ended in a dramatic 1-1 draw after regular time.

China scored first in the second quarter, but Pakistan’s Ahmed Nadeem equalized in the third quarter, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. In a tense and closely contested shootout, China emerged victorious, securing their place in the finals for the first time in the tournament’s history.

The final of the Asian Champions Trophy will see China facing India later today at 3pm. India advanced to the final after a convincing 4-1 win over South Korea in their semi-final match.

India is looking to secure their fifth Asian Champions Trophy title, should they defeat China in today’s final.

Pakistan’s performance throughout the tournament has been commendable, and the bronze medal reflects their resilience and capability on the international stage.
