MOSCOW, Russia: Russia has dismissed any future participation in peace talks linked to the Swiss-organized “peace summit” held in June, calling the process fraudulent.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that without Russia’s involvement, the meeting, attended by 90 countries, was meaningless.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had expressed hope for Russia’s participation in a follow-up summit by the end of the year, but Zakharova rejected this, accusing Ukraine and its Western allies of disregarding true peace efforts.

She criticized their focus on military actions, such as Ukraine’s incursions into Russia’s Kursk region and ongoing requests for Western weaponry. Moscow insists that any peace negotiations must reflect the reality of Russia’s annexation of four Ukrainian regions, even though its control over these areas remains incomplete.

Meanwhile, Ukraine stands firm on its “peace formula,” which includes the withdrawal of Russian forces and accountability for Russia’s invasion.
