ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday alleged that a Zionist lobby is making efforts to reinstate Imran Khan as the prime minister of Pakistan.

During a press conference in Islamabad, Ahsan Iqbal criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and said Imran Khan supports Israel as mentioned in an article published in an Israeli newspaper recently.

The Planning Minister said that the article suggested that Imran Khan is seen as the only acceptable figure for the Israeli lobby in Pakistan. He said that the public has begun to understand who is behind Imran Khan and the PTI’s agenda.

Ahsan Iqbal noted that Imran Khan openly opposed a Pakistani-origin candidate in the London mayoral elections and has been perpetuating a politics of hate and division since 2013, which has resulted in societal rifts in Pakistan.

The Minister said that Pakistan’s political and military leadership will resist any conspiracy to destabilize the country.

The Minister raised concerns about an ongoing international media campaign supporting the PTI founder. He said a prominent Israeli newspaper, the Jerusalem Post, has published a third article favoring Imran Khan.

Ahsan Iqbal said this series of articles was part of a larger campaign orchestrated by Zionist and pro-Israel lobbies to promote the PTI founder.
