Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza Meets in New York

NEW YORK: Members of the Ministerial Committee assigned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on developments in the Gaza Strip held a coordination meeting on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah chaired the meeting. Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye; Retno Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State of the State of Qatar, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States; and Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation were also present during the meeting.

The ministerial meeting comes ahead of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss ways to enhance Arab and Islamic efforts during the General Assembly’s work to support initiatives aimed at recognizing the Palestinian state and ensuring the fulfillment of the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent, sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting also addressed several issues, including efforts to stop Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, ending the humanitarian catastrophe, the dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all affected areas.

Director General of the Office of the Foreign Minister Abdulrahman AlDawood and Counsellor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Manal Radwan also attended the meeting.
