HARYANA, India: Pataudi Palace is a stunning mansion in Haryana, India, currently owned by Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.

More than just a residence, it represents royal heritage and family history. Built in 1935 by Saif’s grandfather, Iftikhar Ali Khan, the palace was constructed to impress his future father-in-law, as he wished to marry Sajida Sultan, the Begum of Bhopal.

In a recent interview, Saif’s sister, Soha Ali Khan, revealed that construction ran over budget, which explains why some areas feature cement floors instead of marble. Nevertheless, Pataudi Palace became a cherished family home, embodying love and dedication.

Over the years, the palace has also served as a popular filming location for Bollywood movies. Saif mentioned that his father once leased the property to a hotel chain, but the family eventually regained ownership. He clarified that there was no need to buy it back, as it was already in their possession.

The palace has appeared in films like Animal (2023), featuring Ranbir Kapoor. Although Saif was born into royalty in 1970, India abolished royal titles the following year. Soha, born later, does not consider herself royal in the traditional sense.

Maintaining Pataudi Palace comes with its responsibilities. Soha shared that their mother, Sharmila Tagore, oversees the estate’s finances, while Saif opts for whitewashing the palace to save on upkeep costs.

Pataudi Palace is more than just an impressive building; it symbolizes the fusion of royal history and the modern lives of the Khan family. From its origins as a royal residence to its role in Bollywood, the palace remains significant for both the family and the public, representing a unique blend of heritage and entertainment.
