ISLAMABAD: Another meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding reserved seats ended inconclusively on Monday, with no decisions made. The meeting was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, and attended by ECP members, senior officials, and legal advisors.

Sources indicate that the ECP has decided to continue consulting with legal experts on the matter. It is worth noting that the ECP has failed to reach a decision on reserved seats in several previous meetings.

Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that reserved seats should be allocated to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The court issued a detailed 70-page judgment authored by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, which stated that the ECP’s petition for clarification was merely a “delaying tactic.”

In its ruling, the Supreme Court emphasized that the PTI, as a political party that participated in the February 8 elections and secured seats in the National and provincial assemblies, is entitled to the reserved seats. The court ordered the ECP to notify the winning candidates from PTI.
