BANGKOK: Pakistan’s Usman Wazeer delivered a stunning performance at the World Youth Boxing Championship in Thailand, knocking out India’s opponent Thilak Selvam in the first round of their welterweight bout.
The match lasted just one minute and five seconds, as Wazeer’s powerful punches overwhelmed Selvam.
The six-round fight, part of the Rise of Champions event, was broadcast on Geo Super and took place at Space Plus in Bangkok.
Just seconds into the match, Wazeer landed a powerful blow that sent Selvam to the canvas. After the Indian boxer got back on his feet, Wazeer struck again with a devastating shot, prompting the referee to stop the contest by technical knockout (TKO).
This victory marked Wazeer’s 14th win and his tenth knockout, further solidifying his status as the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) world youth champion, as well as a champion with the World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia and World Boxing Council (WBC) Middle East titles.
He boasts an impressive 71 percent knockout rate. Earlier this year, he also defeated Thailand’s Jatsada Pithakdantha by TKO in the third round.
