WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s envoy to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has stressed the need for a unified approach in order to resolve the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.
The envoy made these remarks while addressing a gathering to commemorate Kashmir Black Day in Washington. Messages from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar were read on the occasion.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh hoped that recent US polls might lead to a resolution of violence in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh referenced UNSC Resolution 122, advocating for a UN-supervised plebiscite in Occupied Kashmir.
Emphasizing the significance of maintaining momentum in the Kashmir cause, the Ambassador called on the world and human rights organizations to assist in highlighting the plight of the people of Kashmir.
Other speakers included leaders from different organizations, all underscoring the legitimate struggle for self-determination in Kashmir.
The envoy concluded by thanking participants for their resolve and expression of solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
