STOCKHOLM: Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has expressed grave concerns about the upcoming U.S. presidential election, characterizing former President Donald Trump as the “more dangerous” choice.
In a post on X, Thunberg emphasized the significant global implications of the election, which takes place on November 5.
“There is no doubt that one of the candidates — Trump — is way more dangerous than the other,” Thunberg stated. However, she did not spare criticism for the current administration, led by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, particularly regarding their support for Israel in its war on Gaza.
Thunberg pointedly remarked, “Let’s not forget that the genocide in Palestine is happening under the Biden and Harris administration, with American money and complicity.”
She condemned the actions taken against civilians, stating, “It is not in any way ‘feminist’, ‘progressive’ or ‘humanitarian’ to bomb innocent children and civilians — it is the opposite, even if it is a woman in charge.”
The activist’s comments come in the wake of escalating violence in Gaza. According to Palestinian health authority, more than 43,259 Palestinians, mostly children and women, have been killed in over one-year Israel’s war on Gaza.
Thunberg urged Americans to engage in direct action, such as protests and boycotts, to challenge what she described as the “catastrophic consequences of American imperialism.” “My main message to Americans is to remember that you cannot only settle for the least worst option,” she concluded.
