AGRA, India: Indian Air Force MiG-29 crashed near Agra in Uttar Pradesh following “encountering a system malfunction”, local media reported on Tuesday.

This mishap follows a previous MiG-29 crash on September 2 in Barmer, Rajasthan, which was attributed to a “critical technical snag.”

Videos show the aircraft up in flames in an open field in Agra and people standing several feet away from the burning jet.

The videos capture the MiG-29 descending rapidly in a flat spin before touching the ground. A flat spin is a critical and uncontrolled rotational motion that poses significant risks to flight safety, according to media reports.

In response to the development, the IAF admitted the crash and has said that it started an inquiry to determine the cause of the crash.
