RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, held a phone conversation with the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and discussed the Ukraine war, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.

The two leaders praised the distinguished ties between their countries and highlighted the efforts made to raise the level of these ties.

The conversation also touched on cooperation in various fields, and other issues of mutual interest, including the Ukrainian-Russian crisis.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin in a statement said Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince expressed satisfaction with the current level of the friendly and mutually beneficial ties between Russia and Saudi Arabia.

It said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue the consistent expansion of political, trade, economic and humanitarian links.

It further added that both sides stressed the importance of continuing close coordination within OPEC Plus and stated the effectiveness and timeliness of the steps being taken in this format to ensure balance in the global energy market.

The statement said the President and the Crown Prince discussed the complicated situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and noted that the principled approaches of Russia and Saudi Arabia with regard to the Middle East settlement are essentially identical.

They also shared their opinions on the successful BRICS summit in Kazan and agreed to maintain contact.

The two energy giants have been enjoying good ties. President Vladimir Putin in December last year paid an official visit to Saudi Arabia leading a high-level delegation.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah also led the Kingdom’s delegation at the BRICS Plus Summit 2024, held in Kazan, Russia, as an invited country to join the BRICS group.
