ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has established a central debt management office at the finance ministry, to fulfill the demand of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the statement of the Ministry of Finance, the debt office aims to develop an emergency strategy to deal with debt management and payment problems.
The Ministry of Finance said that the establishment of debt management office will help improve the management of debts.
The statement said that the debt management office will keep a record of contingent liabilities and debts owed to government institutions.
The Finance Ministry’s statement said that an emergency strategy will be created to deal with debt repayment problems, a medium-term debt management strategy will be implemented, and the debt strategy will be updated on an annual basis.
