Islamabad/California: WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging application, is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow its web users to select multiple chats.

Through the “multiple chat selection” feature, the app’s users will be able to manage their chat list and take actions like ‘mute’, ‘mark unread’, or ‘read’ for multiple chats simultaneously.

According to “WABetaInfo”, a website that monitors WhatsApp changes, work is underway on the new feature for desktop users. It is not yet confirmed that when will the company roll out the “multiple chat selection” feature, but reportedly it will be a part of WhatsApp next year.

WhatsApp also working on ‘report status’ feature

Meanwhile, the messaging application is also working on another feature to make WhatsApp more secure for its users.

The company is developing a ‘report status feature’ through which users will be able to report any status that may violate the terms and conditions of WhatsApp. The meta-owned app already allows its users to report messages or profiles but this new feature will help users to report harmful status updates.

Created in 2009 by two former Yahoo employees, Brian Acton and Jan Koum, WhatsApp is available in more than 180 countries and has over two billion users worldwide.

It is one of the few apps to be downloaded over five billion times on Android and iOS.
