PNRA’s Performance Makes it a Prominent Nuclear Regulator Globally: Chairman

ISLAMABAD: Chairman PNRA (Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority) Faizan Mansoor has said that he was delighted to share the regulatory authority played its due role in achieving the highest standards of nuclear safety and security in Pakistan for securing protection of masses and environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.

The Chairman PNRA said this on the occasion of 22nd Anniversary while adding that he was humbled by the improvement and achievements made by PNRA with the support and recognition of the relevant stakeholders i.e., licensees, public, the government officials and international nuclear community as well as their satisfaction with the work of PNRA has always been remarkable.

PNRA Role as Nuclear Regulator

Faizan Mansoor further said that since its inception, PNRA has been able to demonstrate its regulatory responsibilities effectively and efficiently and has always endeavored for continuous improvement in its smooth processes, competence and services and hence recognized as one of the prominent and leading nuclear regulatory bodies in the world at present.

PNRA, established in the year 2001 as an autonomous nuclear regulatory authority, has been authorized by the Pakistan’s federal government to control and regulate the usage of nuclear radiation for peaceful applications in the country including power generation, diagnostic and therapeutic medicine, industry, agriculture, research, education, etc.

 PNRA also works closely with the international organizations including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and actively participates in its efforts to uphold the principles of nuclear safety and security across the world.
