Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit Kicks Off in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit formally began on Wednesday to discuss a number of topics including cancer, infectious diseases, and genetics.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi minister of the National Guard Prince Abdullah bin Bandar officially opened the two-day Summit 2023 in Riyadh.

The opening day sessions discussed cellular, and genetic therapy, medicine for rare diseases, and clinical trials. On the occasion, Dr. Bandar Al-Kinawy of Health Affairs termed the summit as a milestone for medical biotechnology, which represents the future of the health sector.

He said that the summit will play a key role in the development of the Saudi biotech health industry. He added that it will also provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge between industry leaders worldwide, which consolidates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s position as a pioneer in the field of biotechnology. The global summit is a great opportunity for innovators to present their ideas, explore new investment opportunities, and discuss legislation, to help global health challenges.

Saudi Araba’s Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih said that medical biotechnology is expected to be the fastest-growing sector in the coming decades. The Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology summit, which takes place under the patronage of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was organized by the MNGHA, in cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Investment.
