Desecration of Holy Quran unbearable for Muslim Ummah, says Pakistani Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Mufti Abdul Shakoor has said the other day that the desecration of the Holy Quran was an unbearable act for Muslim Ummah across the globe.

Addressing the video link conference of the ministers of religious affairs of Muslim countries on the invitation of head of Turkish Religious Affairs Dr Ali Arbash, the minister said that the divine command was our base and foundation and no Muslim could tolerate its desecration anyway and anywhere in the world.

The ministers of religious affairs of Islamic states including Malaysia, Iran, Sudan, Djibouti, and Palestine participated in the conference.

The minister further said that similar incidents had also happened in Canada, New Zealand, and other countries in recent past but the recent hateful incident of desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden was highly condemnable and would not be accepted at any level. “Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and we respect everyone and should be respected as well,” he added.

Mufti Abdul Shakoor thanked the head of Turkish religious affairs for realizing the sensitivity of this issue and uniting his counterparts from other Islamic states and important personalities to raise the issue and sort out a permanent solution to such incidents.

Such Incidents Need to Stop

He further said it was natural for all Muslims to be concerned about this and followed by an aggressive stance on it adding that it was the undoubted responsibility of the United Nations and other major countries to play their due role as there was a dire need to make a permanent and effective solution and legislation on the issue.

After the legislation, these laws should be implemented in letter and spirit worldwide as it would assist to stop the reoccurring of such nuisance issues and maintain peace and tranquility in the comity of nations, he concluded.
