Canadian HC calls on Federal Minister Rana Tanveer

ISLAMABAD: Canadian High Commissioner Ms. Leslie Scanlona called on Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer Hussain here on Thursday where both the dignitaries discussed the exchange of expertise and knowledge related to vocational and technical training.

Rana Tanveer said that in the field of Non-Formal Education, National Skills University (NSU), Islamabad was providing Technical Skills to the youth in Pakistan, which can be transformed into a Skill Learning Centre for current and aspiring Pakistani youth to work in Canada.

Minister seeks boosting Pak, Canadian ties

He further said that there can be a Student Exchange Program with Canada, similar to the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program of the United States Department of State.

Under this proposed initiative, he added, the selected students from Pakistan and Canada will attend one semester in each other’s Higher Education institutes to promote an understanding of each other’s culture, traditions, and educational systems.

The minister welcomed the exchange of teachers and students to further enhance mutual cooperation, especially for Skilled Vocational Training. He said that there was a significant potential for cooperation between the two sides.

The Minister thanked the Ambassador and emphasized the cordial and friendly relations between the two countries.
