Pakistan, China to Focus on Tourism Exchanges this Year

BEIJING: Commercial counselor of the Embassy of Pakistan in China Ghulam Qadir has said that 2023 would be the year of Pakistan-China Tourism Exchanges as both the countries were deeply focused on it adding that Pakistan has everything it takes to become one of the world’s best travel destinations.

He further said that scores of tourism-related activities will be happening between the two neighboring countries in the current year.

Ghulam Qadir further informed that roadshows will be arranged along with the cultural festivities, showcasing some of Pakistan’s tourist attractions and added, “We want our Chinese brothers and sisters to explore Pakistani cuisine and fashion from our trendy brands in the country. We will come up with a complete guidebook to facilitate travel from China to Pakistan, and vice versa.”

managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation Aftab ur Rehman Rana told China Economic Net (CEN) that the opening of China’s tourism was a very positive sign for Pakistan as it had extensive preparations to welcome Chinese visitors.

From January 8, 2023, Republic of China resumed outbound tourism after putting down COVID-19 management measures from Class A to B. As per 2023 Spring Festival Travel Summary Report issued by Ctrip, domestic and foreign travel orders of Chinese tourists enhanced by four times against the Spring Festival previous year.

The popularity of Spring Festival tourism is only the beginning, and Chinese tourism market will experience a remarkable recovery this year.

Deputy General manager of Pudong Passenger Service Center of China Eastern Airlines Qin Ye, has said that the international flights within the Asia-Pacific region will have fester recovery than intercontinental flights for other locations and they were planning to expand our international routes gradually. 

Meanwhile Aftab ur Rehman Rana said that they have seen new highways, and side roads from south to east to north, and improving the road network was critical for the promotion of tourism.

Commercial counselor Ghulam Qadir also recalled that as CPEC enters its second phase of high-quality development, more partnerships, joint ventures, and travel are needed. He added that CPEC was an excellent example of the two countries’ friendship. “We are constructing highways that will connect Pakistan from north to south, down to Karachi and ports, and a railway project will be implemented very soon”. he added.
