The protest, which started at Islamabad Press Club and headed toward China Chowk, was arranged by Tahafuz-e-Huqooq Chitral, while MNA Abul Akbar Chitrali and Senator Falak Naz led the protest.

The protestors demanded that the federal government give the people of Chitral basic rights.

According to them, the people of Chitral were deprived of electricity and proper roads. They added that they were facing problems in their hospitals as there were no proper doctors.

Demand fundamental rights

Talking to World Echo, a resident of Chitral, Huidayat-ur-Rehman said that their demand was a due right on their resources and lamented that people from outside Chitral came to their area and got licenses for exploration of minerals, but unfortunately, being natives of Chitral, they didn’t have that right.

He further said that another issue they faced was the illegal cutting of forests in their area.

He also blamed the local politicians for not resolving their issues as they protested for the last couple of weeks, first in Peshawar and now in Islamabad.

He added that they believed their issues could be resolved only when the public came out to the roads.
