RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayer for martyred Major Muhammad Jawad and Captain Sagheer Abbas was offered in Rawalpindi and Kot Addu, respectively.
According to a press statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), both officers embraced shahadat due to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion during the sanitisation operation in Kohlu, Balochistan.
Lt-Gen Muhammad Saeed, Chief of General Staff, a large number of serving and retired officers, soldiers, relatives, and people from different segments of society attended the funerals. The martyred officers were laid to rest with complete military honour.
Both the officers, Major Jawad and Captain Sagheer, embraced martyrdom during a sanitization operation in the Kohlu area of Balochistan on Friday.
“Based on credible intelligence, a sanitization operation was initiated in the Kohlu area of Balochistan to deny terrorists any liberty of action,” ISPR said earlier in a statement, adding, “during the operation, an IED exploded close to the leading party, leading to the martyrdom of two officers, Major Jawad and Captain Sagheer.”
