ISLAMABAD/MAKKAH: The Muslim World League (MWL) has strongly condemned the illegal settlement operations by Israel in occupied Palestinian territories, terming it a violation of all relevant international laws and resolutions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, MWL Secretary General Sheikh Dr Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, who also heads the Association of Muslim Scholars, reaffirmed the MWL’s position regarding the Palestinians.
He reiterated the call for a just and comprehensive peace and demanded halting all unilateral measures that undermine the chances of reaching a solution in the occupied territories.
Israel on Sunday authorised nine more Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and announced mass construction of new homes within the established settlements.
Israel has about 140 illegal settlements in Palestinian territory
Israel has built about 140 settlements housing 600,000 Jews since it captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1967 war.
The international community considers all settlements illegal under international law, though Israel disputes this.
Palestinians view the settlements as a major obstacle to a peace deal with Israel. They seek the removal of all settlements and outposts from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
