Pakistan, IAEA Agree to Further Enhance Cooperation in Peaceful Use of Nuclear Technology

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the International Atomic Energy Agency agreed on Saturday that they would further enhance cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear technology, especially in mitigating the impact of climate change.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two sides agreed during a visit of Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Mariano Grossi to Pakistan. 

Technology

During the visit, DG IAEA Grossi also delivered a keynote address at a seminar on “Climate Change Mitigation and the Role of Nuclear Energy” in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad.

Grossi emphasized the significance of nuclear energy as a clean source in countering the negative impacts of the challenge of climate change.

The DG lauded Pakistan’s high standards of nuclear safety and security after visiting Pakistan Centre of Excellence on Nuclear Security and National Institute of Safety and Security, the foreign office statement added.
