LAHORE: Two student organizations scuffled at the University of Punjab Lahore Wednesday, resulting in the closure of the institution.
Police said that during the clash, the students also resorted to stone pelting and aerial firing. Many students were injured, but their number could not be ascertained.
47 student arrested
The police added that at least forty-seven students involved in the firing on the university premises had been arrested.
The incident comes just days after Pakistan’s top-ranking Quaid-i-Azam University was shut down this week for an indefinite period following a similar clash between 2 student groups on a linguistic basis.
The students of the QAUI were directed to empty the veracity’s hostels after the clash.
