ECP Deems April’s Second Week Appropriate for Elections in Punjab, KP

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Thursday mulled over the election dates in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and deemed the second week of April as the most appropriate.

ECP held a meeting chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to discuss the process in detail.

In this regard, it decided to write a letter to the president and governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within two days.

ECP on required funds

The participants agreed that Rs.30 billion would be required for the electoral process in two provinces. The ECP has received Rs.5 billion and would ask for an additional Rs.25 billion, a local TV reported.

Moreover, 117000 security personnel would also be required to be deployed during the election.
