ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has opened the snow-capped Burzal Pass to traffic. Burzil Pass is located in Astor, 178 kilometres from Gilgit city, and approximately 30 kilometres from the Line of Control.

Whether it is a natural disaster or a tragedy, the armed forces are the first to respond to. The opening of the snow-covered Burzal Pass by the Pakistan Army is the continuation of such an action.

Burzil Pass is an important checkpoint for both the army and the people. The pass is in the Himalayas range at an altitude of 13,808 feet above sea level, which remains covered with ice from October to April.

The area has only 61 villages and a population of 15,000 people. Up to 60,000 vehicles pass through Burzil Pass every year. This year, the pass was closed in January and February.

Pakistan Army personnel worked day and night to open the pass. Pakistan army personnel worked in the cold weather of 30 degrees centigrade to open the pass. Area residents thanked the Pakistan Army for opening the pass.
