ISLAMABAD:  Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice (Retd) Mian Saqib Nisar has reacted to his alleged audio leak and said he has the legal right to take action against those who leaked his private conversation.

In a statement, the former CJP said that it was an unconstitutional and illegal act to record a private conversation of any person. He asked what are they trying to get in return by recording conversations between people.

Mian Saqib Nisar further added that the wrong deeds of some elements cannot be covered by tapping someone’s private talks.  He said “Khawaja Tariq Raheem is my friend and a senior lawyer. He sought legal advice from me. I did not know for whom he was getting my legal view.”

He said that he is an independent citizen now and If someone is seeking his legal advice then he would definitely give it. He maintained that he gives legal consultancy without any fees to the people at his son’s office.

The former CJP said that the use of tapped private conversations for the purpose of blackmailing is a crime.
