LONDON: Thousands of Sikhs gathered at Sikh Trafalgar Square in London on the 39th anniversary of the Indian attack on the sacred Sikh shrine, Darbar Sahib, for a Freedom Rally organized by the Sikh Federation UK. The rally saw participation from Sikhs across London and various other cities, with a significant number of women and children joining in solidarity.

The Freedom Rally commenced at Wellington Arch and transformed into a large procession upon reaching Hyde Park. Prominent figures, including the Prime Minister of the Sikh government in exile and other Sikh leaders, addressed the gathering, voicing their demands for justice from the British government.

Participants at the rally expressed their unwavering determination to never forget the Indian Army’s assault on Darbar Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, in 1984. They recalled the brutal massacre of Sikhs and emphasized that justice has yet to be served. Seeking freedom from India, Sikhs yearn for a peaceful existence.

Sikh Leaders Demand Justice

The Sikh leaders highlighted the need for the British government to acknowledge the atrocities committed against the Sikh community and take appropriate action to ensure justice is served. The gathering served as a platform to voice the grievances and aspirations of Sikhs, who continue to seek redress for the historical injustices inflicted upon them.

The event also aimed to raise awareness about the Sikh struggle for freedom and justice, both within the United Kingdom and on an international scale. Through peaceful demonstrations and demands for justice, Sikhs united in their quest for a free and peaceful existence, free from oppression and discrimination.

The rally served as a reminder of the ongoing fight for justice and highlighted the resilience of the Sikh community in their pursuit of truth and freedom. The participants vowed to continue their efforts until justice is served and the aspirations of the Sikh community are realized.
