Armed Men Kill Nine of a Family in Malakand over Domestic Dispute

MALAKAND, Pakistan: In what is believed to be a domestic dispute, armed men entered a house and opened fire killing nine members of a family in Malakand in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, according to the officials.

According to the Levies officials, the incident was the outcome of a domestic dispute. The victims include two children, four women and three men.

According to the reports, the gunmen barged into a house in the Bagardara area on the outskirts of Malakand at night and started firing indiscriminately. As a result, three men, four women and children were killed. A 12-year-old child miraculously remained unhurt.

According to the assistant commissioner concerned, three people have been arrested in connection with the incident. He claimed that the victim family’s son-in-law was involved in the incident, who killed his own wife among others.

The bodies were immediately transferred to Batkhela DHQ Hospital, and later handed over to the family after fulfilling legal formalities.

A search operation is underway in the area to arrest the remaining culprits.

The locals protested against the incident by placing the bodies of the victims on road. The protesters demanded the culprits be arrested at the earliest. However, on the assurance of the assistant commissioner, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
