Fire at Indian Pharma Factory Leaves Six Injured

NEW DELHI: A fire that broke out at a unit of a privately held pharmaceutical company in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh on Friday has left at least six people injured, according to state police officials. Two of the injured individuals were hospitalized with critical burns after the fire occurred in a solvent reactor at a facility belonging to Sahithi Pharma. The exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined.

District Superintendent of Police, Murali Krishna, stated that they are still in the process of gathering details regarding the number of people present during the incident and the precise reason behind the accident. The Indian Express newspaper reported that two fatalities occurred, but Reuters has not been able to independently verify these claims.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the situation, with at least two fire trucks dispatched to the location. Rescue operations are currently underway, and authorities are working to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.

In response to the incident, Gudivada Amarnath, the state Information Technology and Industries minister, confirmed that the chief minister’s office has taken note of the situation and will initiate a thorough investigation.
