ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has dismissed rumours circulating on social media regarding the issuance of Rs10,000 banknotes. The central bank has clarified that these reports are baseless and unfounded.

Several unverified social media posts claimed that the SBP is planning to introduce new currency notes of Rs10,000 in response to the significant devaluation of the rupee. However, the SBP spokesperson has refuted these claims and stated that there are no plans to issue higher denomination banknotes.

State Bank of Pakistan Denies Reports

In response to the rumours, some social media users pointed out that the name of the former State Bank Governor, Yasin Anwar, was engraved on the Rs10,000 note. However, it should be noted that Yasin Anwar served as the Governor until 2014.

This is not the first time such rumours have surfaced regarding the introduction of Rs10,000 banknotes. In 2018, the SBP also addressed similar gossip and clarified that there were no plans to issue such banknotes.

The SBP’s denial reaffirms that there is no truth to the rumours circulating on social media regarding the issuance of Rs10,000 banknotes. The central bank urges the public to rely on official sources for accurate and verified information related to currency matters.
